Tour Farmamerica

Explore how Minnesota farmers survived in the late 1800s, thrived in the 1900s, and developed the modern farming techniques of today. Discover just how much has changed in farming and the rural landscape in the last 200 years.

Our Visitor Center is open Tuesday-Friday, and select Saturdays for tours. 

  • Self-Guided: Starting Between 9 AM - 2 PM, Tuesday- Friday
  • Self-Guided: Starting Between 9 AM - 10:30 AM, Select Saturdays
  • Guided*: Starting at 10 AM & 1 PM, Tuesday- Friday
  • Guided*: Starting at 9 AM & 10 AM, Select Saturdays

*Please book guided tours at least 24 hours in advance. Saturday guided tours must be booked 48 hours in advance.  If you have questions about hours, please give us a call at 507-835-2052.

What You'll See:

  • Visitor Center: Our 10,000 square-foot center houses our Ag Around You Discovery Center and the Day in the Life of a Farmer Exhibit.
  • Prairie: First seeded in 1985, our 10-acre restoration includes 40 native plant varieties.
  • 1850s Homestead: The 1850s Homestead includes a Dugout, Hovel, Log Cabin, Smokehouse, and Barn which all help to recreate the authentic, mid 1850s pioneer homestead. 
  • Gallagher Country School: Our one-room schoolhouse was moved to Farmamerica in May of 1986 from St. Mary's township.
  • Country Church: Built in 1881, our church was donated to Farmamerica in 1987. 
  • 1930s Dairy Farm: Our dairy farm shows the farm as a home and business. Meet our live farm animals here!
  • Feed Mill: Explore "Then and Now" exhibits inside
  • Blacksmith Shop: Built by Blacksmith Samuel Grandprey in 1887, this building was operated as a ground-floor blacksmith shop, and a second-floor town hall.
